Job Purpose

Progress Rail is actively seeking an IT Field Administrator to provide support to facility in the Louisville KY area.

Key Job Elements

• Ability to solve basic, common user problems in real time, including software functionality; data communication/network troubleshooting and installation, PC and network configuration; operating systems and browser related issues;

• Travel to both domestic and international locations;

• Support end users with their computer related concerns through both on-site and remote mechanisms;

• Support user base while traveling;

• Provide after hours support as needed for critical events, 5 Day Close and special project initiatives;

• Perform system upgrades, new system set up, configuration and installation;

• Installation of software for various computer applications / programs and then routinely testing them to ensure they are functioning appropriately;

• On-going maintenance, system checks, security set up and support for existing systems and their related peripheral equipment;

• Ability to maintain, install and configure LANs, network cabling, network communication protocols such as TCP/IP;

• Ensure PC protection packages are in place and operating appropriately (firewall, anti-virus, malware, etc.);

• Perform accurate and timely updates of tickets in the company tracking system;

• Prioritize production-critical issues and escalate issue(s) to the appropriate technical staff;

• Develop and keep up to date facility network diagrams;

• Develop project plans as needed and keep them up to date;

• Work with PRS personnel both local and remote to a location as well as I.T. staff and vendors on business critical projects relating to a particular location;

• Put together and keep up to date site documentation and on-site notebooks locally at the site and in a centrally accessible file structure;

• Provide detailed travel summaries of trips in a timely manner;

• Develop, publish and adhere to standards, policies, and procedures;

• Sarbanes-Oxley compliance;

• CACD compliance as needed;

• Assist with the design, support and implementation of video surveillance systems;

• Assist business units as required in the development of business response plans;

• Assist with the maintenance of server based applications /services to include customer / business required and infrastructure required applications;

• Assist in WAN maintenance, installation and configuration;

• Assist in the monitoring of backup processes to ensure their success;

• Assist in the inventory of all hardware and software resources;

• Provide remote and on-site technical support;

• Facilitate warranty claims and exchanges;

• Other duties as assigned;

• In additional to the above assigned responsibilities a Field Administrator II would;

• Act as a project manager to ensure timely, efficient, cost effective and reliable implementation of business critical projects which meet the requirements of the request;

• Act as technical support to other Field Engineers and I.T. personnel for technically challenging issues;

• Provide documentation and training to other Field Engineers in areas that would help those receiving the documentation and training be more successful in their areas of responsibility;

• Provide administrative functions related to local file and print servers.

Education / Training

• Information Technology related degree or equivalent experience required.

Qualifications and Experience


• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds;

• Position requires a valid Driver's License and applicant must be willing to travel domestically and internationally;

• Applicants must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings;

• Must be able to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing;

• Ideal candidates are flexible, self-motivated and self-managing, with a strong sense of team and the ability to also work independently;

• Customer interaction skills;

• Network experience to include LAN, network cabling and network protocols to include TCP/IP;

• System configuration, maintenance and support experience;

• Familiarity with Microsoft products;

• Microsoft Server experience;

• Microsoft Exchange Client experience;

• Proven organization and communication skills;

• Ability and willingness to travel, work remotely and independently;

• Safety conscious.

• SAN experience;

• VM Ware experience;

• CAD / CAM application experience;

• Lotus Notes Client experience;

• Proven organization and communication skills;

• Experience working within a manufacturing/ production environment requiring PPE use.
