Job Purpose

Progress Rail Services Corporation, a Caterpillar Company and a leading provider of Railroad Maintenance of Way equipment throughout the North American Market, seeks an experienced Production Manager over the Maintenance of Way Facility in Montgomery AL. Key Job Elements

Drive safety, cost, delivery, and quality targets for the MGM MoW facility as established by senior leadership team

Manage the overall operation of manufacturing including Fabrication, Welding, Rail / Utility Assembly, and Paint

Manage the critical KPIs (eg, reduced assembly hours, improved safety, increased flow of material, hitting delivery dates, etc)

Overall coordination of manufacturing support functions - Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, EHS, Service, & Sales

Drive cost reduction efforts through analysis of capital and capacity opportunities, responsible for overall plant efficiency

Alignment of production goals with the strategic plan for the division

Creation of a continuous improvement culture by implementation of Lean tools and programs

Direct involvement with the design and implementation of new manufacturing lines (i.e. Current State and Future State)

Develop weekly, monthly, and annual manufacturing schedules, adjust plans as needed

Customer focus and mindset to be at the forefront of the entire operation

Provide regular performance feedback to employees, including coaching, mentoring, and development

Manager of multiple direct reports, over multiple areas (75-100 indirect)

Education / Training

Bachelor’s degree in related field

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum of 5 year experience leading a team with manufacturing heavy equipment products

 Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and manage large workloads

 Strong root cause problem solving abilities and experience in addressing complex technical problems

 Knowledge of ERP systems, in particular LN (Infor product)

 Excellent verbal and electronic communication skills

 Skillful in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other as needed

 Ability to lead effective meetings related to production
