Job Purpose

Executive-level leadership position directing all aspects of a premier locomotive assembly operation employing 300+. Low-volume production environment requires the integration of highly-complex business and engineering processes to obtain desired outcomes. The successful candidate will possess extraordinary team-building, organizational and leadership skills. Broad experience across multiple business functions will be required. Position carries full P&L responsibility for a multi-million-dollar enterprise, and has the potential for rapid growth within the organization.

Key Job Elements

-Position reports directly to the SVP- Locomotive Operations, Procurement and Transit

-Responsible for all aspects of the high-complexity locomotive assembly process

-Reporting to this position are senior managers for production, production scheduling, quality control, safety, process engineering and product testing

-Reporting on a dotted-line are senior managers for supply chain, HR, environmental and field support

-Provides direction and support for senior managers, and oversees their effectiveness and development

-Sets performance goals for managers, and drives performance excellence throughout the organization

-Communicates Company strategy/vision for the operation, and provides appropriate leadership

-Operates effectively within well-established Company value system

-Ensures successful execution of key manufacturing processes to include production scheduling, cost containment, materials support, efficiencies, metrics, etc.

-Works closely with Engineering group to ensure customer design requirements are met

-Stays attuned to customer needs and helps foster positive customer relationships

-Manages to on-time delivery of quality product

Education / Training

-Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related discipline required

-MBA or related advanced degree preferred

Qualifications and Experience

-Minimum 5 years multi-level team leadership experience required

-5-10 years managerial experience with full P&L responsibility required

-Proven executive-level leadership capabilities required, along with good organizational skills

-In-depth experience with financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, etc.

-Results-oriented professional, with excellent analytical skills

-Locomotive or other Railroad industry experience a “plus”

-Infrastructure/Construction/Large Project management experience considered

-Ability to successfully manage the integration of complex business processes in a low-volume manufacturing environment

-Broad experience desired across multiple business functions such as engineering, production, scheduling, supply chain, quality control, etc.

-Proven interpersonal, communication and presentation skills

-Ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

-Proficient in MS Office suite, including intermediate Excel skills

-Experience with SAP, or other major ERP/MRO system
