Job Purpose

Responsible for supporting day-to-day Machining Operations with technical needs, process troubleshooting, tooling troubleshooting, and programming troubleshooting. Supports the Continuous Improvement system and QMS system, drives cost reductions in tooling spend, and drives process efficiency improvement. This is for a second shift full time position.

Key Job Elements

•2nd shift full time position

•Creates standard work for Machining Operations and updates standard work as necessary.

•Creates and manages updates to SFMEA’s and PFMEA’s.

•Utilizes OEE data to drive process efficiency and participates in RCCP

•Drives reduction projects in perishable tooling spend

•Diagnose malfunctions and perform adjustments or repairs to machined products to meet quality standards. This will require extensive problem solving skills to properly assess and compensate for variations due to incoming part quality, process variations, process changes, engineering changes and part shortages.

•This role will require excellent problem identification, diagnostic skills, communication and teamwork to ensure component quality levels while have direct control of key aspects of component quality. These skills will be required multiple times a day and must be handled rapidly and accurately in order to avoid potential warranty claims.

•Address continuous improvement initiatives and provide feedback in areas of quality, safety, velocity, and cost.

•Expectation is all tasks are to be conducted in a 100% safe manner.

•Must be able to work in a team environment.

•Must be a self-starter and ability to demonstrate strong initiative. Capable of interpreting technical instructions, dealing with large degrees of variation with part and process consistency while delivering the highest levels of quality components.

•Participate/Facilitate Fast Track DMAIC investigations as needed

Education / Training

•Requires high school diploma or GED and/or Technical degree in Machining or five years or more experience in Machining.

Qualifications and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

•PC literate required.

•Blue print reading required.

•Leadership skills desirable.

•Geometry and/or trigonometry experience required.

•Setup, operate and adjust all machine tools to perform all cutting tool maintenance

• Employees must demonstrate ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, technical correspondence, and memos.

•Demonstrate ability to write effective correspondence.

•Demonstrate ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers and employees of the organization.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working near moving mechanical parts, overhead cranes and lift truck traffic.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met successfully to perform the essential functions of the job:.

• Requires long periods of standing, reaching and using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls;

• Requires frequent walking up and down floor to platforms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl inside the product as required;

• Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds;

• Metatarsal safety shoes are required as well as safety glasses.
